GlutenFreely.com serves as one-stop shop for gluten-free community
General Mills and medical partners launch online resource
May 12, 2011
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – In support of National Celiac Awareness Month, General Mills introduces a new comprehensive online resource – GlutenFreely.com, a site where individuals who need to or desire to live a gluten-free lifestyle can find a wealth of information, products and resources.
Gluten Freely.com offers more than 400 gluten-free products from a wide variety of manufacturers for online purchase, information about living a gluten-free lifestyle, hundreds of delicious gluten-free recipes, insights on how to navigate grocery stores and restaurants, and lots of other tips and tricks.
Developed in partnership with the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research, the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center, and General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition, the site is the result of years of listening and responding to the wishes of the gluten-free community to develop an online portal that meets their specific wants and needs.
“We are very pleased to partner with Gluten Freely to create a destination that will make a real difference for those living with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity” said Dr. Stefano Guandalini, Founder and Medical Director of The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center. “We look forward to helping provide this community a dynamic, fun and informative tool to help them live a healthy and stress-free life.”
“The gluten-free community, which includes more than just the Americans affected by celiac disease, typically needs to visit multiple websites and other resources to gain the important information they need when living with this lifelong condition,” said Dr. Alessio Fasano, Medical Director, University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research. “Now, GlutenFreely.com can serve all of those needs with one easy-to-use tool.”
Products available for purchase on GlutenFreely.com range from baking ingredients, mixes, breads and cereals to condiments, pastas, soups and desserts from a wide variety of manufacturers. The site also includes special offers, coupons and daily web-only deals.
Another feature of GlutenFreely.com is a “Community” section where visitors can find commentary from bloggers in the gluten-free community, including frequent posts with advice and a Q&A from Danna Korn, author of “Living Gluten-Free for Dummies.”
“We‟re so glad that General Mills and Gluten Freely are taking these bold steps to make life easier for our community,” said Korn, a partner in the new solution. “We‟ve been dreaming of a „one-stop shop‟ for 20 years, and now we have it!”
Over time, GlutenFreely.com will continue to evolve to offer more products, content and features such as “Share your recipes & stories”, “Ask a Doc” and “Local events.”
