Community Action Council
At U.S. locations where General Mills operates manufacturing facilities, our employees serve on Community Action Councils that work with the General Mills Foundation to make grants to nonprofits in their communities
The Community Action Council program is an important part of General Mills' commitment to the communities in which we have business operations. Community Action Councils are groups of General Mills employees who volunteer their time to help the company give back, both financially and through volunteer efforts, to their local manufacturing communities.
Local Community Action Councils make Foundation grant recommendations and organize volunteer opportunities in our 24 manufacturing communities.
The General Mills Foundation will focus its grant-making in these communities and their surrounding areas (up to 50 miles from the General Mills facility in each community) in the areas of hunger & nutrition wellness, education, family services and arts & culture.
