When the folks at Betty Crocker learned that the ever-popular Betty White was turning 90 this month, they baked her a cake and delivered it just in time for White’s 90th birthday special scheduled to air Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. Central Standard Time on NBC television.

Both legendary Bettys are 90, and both remain as popular and relevant today as they’ve ever been.

“Betty White is one of the most popular actresses of our time, and Betty Crocker was honored to create this one-of-a-kind birthday cake for her,” says Kristen Olson, food editor in the Betty Crocker Kitchens. “This vibrant cake reflects Betty White’s personality and the many things we love about her.”

The star-studded TV event featured some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including many of White’s co-stars throughout the years.

Betty Crocker provided each of the several hundred celebrity guests with an individual cake that replicated the look of the Celebration Cake’s top tier.

Two 'happy homemakers'
While Betty Crocker was America’s original happy homemaker, Betty White played The Happy Homemaker on camera in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," then reverted to the barracuda Sue Ann Nivens off camera.

White currently stars as Elka Ostrovsky in the sitcom "Hot in Cleveland," and has won seven Emmy Awards, three American Comedy Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990) and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, alongside her late husband, Allen Ludden.

The original First Lady of Food, Betty Crocker has remained as relevant as White, and to celebrate 90 successful years of bringing together family and friends, the brand released a new edition of the Betty Crocker Cookbook, also known as “Big Red,” last year.

More than 65 million copies have sold since the first edition was published in 1950.
